This classic orchestral procession by Richard Wagner is transcribed excellently for Brass Band by Carolyn Ramsbottom.
Originally written as part of a university module on brass band arranging, this great score rightfully achieved the top marks in the class. Since then, it has been played by many bands, recorded by the United Co-op Yorkshire Brass Band (UK championship section - listen below) and was published by a British publisher.
The piece itself is dark and brooding, focussing on the death of Siegfried and the solemn funeral procession where his body is carried away. It is one of the most intense passages from the opera and would work well as an emotional high point in your concert.
