Bethel Street is a road in Brighouse, Yorkshire with lots of pubs on it! It plays host to the Brighouse March Contest each year where some of the world's finest bands compete for pride and to decide who will be paying for the next round.
Emusic-Online owners Marc and Carolyn and the composer Andi Cook used to play for Yorkshire Co-operatives Brass Band who rehearse above a department store just around the corner from Bethel Street. After rehearsal the band would wander around to the the 'Richard Oastler', a renovated Methodist Chapel on Bethel Street for quick lemonade before heading home.
So that's why Bethel Street means so much to us and the Yorkshire Co-op Band! The band have made this in to their signature march and it formed the street march section of their entry in to Brighouse March Contest in 2008.
