Fendall Hill
Instrumentation: Eb Trumpet/Cornet/Horn and Piano
Length: 8 Minutes
Difficulty: A Grade
GBC is named for Fendall's kids Geordie (boy born 2000), Brenna (girl born 2002) and Charlie (girl born 2004). The piece is conveniently in the key of C for an E flat instrument, and Fendall features the notes G, B and C.
Movt 1 - G The piece starts with a GBC motif. Geordie is a live wire little guy, but with a real sensitivity, he just focuses on something and runs, and when he's on the go, it's hard to arrest his attention. He has a love of all things Thunderbirds and Star Wars, so you will hear musical references to them. The movement starts and stops as quickly as he does.
Movt 2 - B Brenna is the mysterious middle child with a real depth. The music captures her sweet nature and transitions into a mysterious, almost slightly mad waltz. This is Fendall's personal favourite piece of composition. Obviously the 'B' in the motif features a lot!
Movt 3 - C Charlie is the little personality, she is a born charmer and knows how to read people and act in a way that gets the right response. She is a bright, playful little button. Being the 'C', it provides a satisfying last movement feel.
