C Hubert Parry, arranged by Josh Geddes

Instrumentation: Brass Band with Voice(s)

Length: 3 Minutes

Difficulty: D Grade

There have been people in England campaigning for years to replace the sombre national anthem 'God Save the Queen' with this bright, optimistic classic... And this piece has been regularly used instead of 'the Queen' at sports events by English teams where the other British nations (Scotland, Wales and Northern Island) are not present. The Last Night of the Proms simply wouldn't be the same without it!

Rugby and politics aside, this rousing music with William Blake's wonderful text remains a concert favourite around the world.

Josh's great arrangement is for a vocal soloist (written in treble clef, but easily read down an octave for a male voice) and full brass band. It would work just as well sung by an audience or congregation.

Whether you're recreating the Proms in your own back garden or looking for a solo to show off a gues vocalist, this will fit the bill!
